Tao Zheng, Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Tao Zheng has over 15 year industrial experience in battery technology and business management. Prior joining CNano, Dr. Zheng was China President of A123 Systems, one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-power Lithium ion batteries for automobile, power grid and power tool applications. Tao helped to build A123 Systems China operations teams from 1 to about 1000 employees in 5 years. Prior to A123 Systems, he was the Founder and President of PowerGenie, one of the largest Lithium ion battery cathode material provider in China today. Dr. Zheng was also the Founder and CTO of Voltix Technologies, a lithium ion battery company, and was a research scientist at Telcordia (formerly Bellcore), where he engaged in development of plastic Lithium ion batteries. Dr. Zheng received his Ph.D. in Physics from Simon Fraser University, Canada.

Jun Ma, Ph.D.
Vice President of Research and Development

Dr. Jun Ma is a long-time veteran in nanotechnology, and has more than 18 year experience working with carbon nanomaterials. Before joining CNano Technology Ltd as Director of Business Development, Dr. Ma served as a technical and business consultant for several high tech companies. He has spent 10 years working for Hyperion Catalysis International. Hyperion is the first and leading carbon nanotube company in the world with product sale starting in 1980s. There, he led the R&D team, developed, and built one of the largest IP portfolios in the world on numerous nanotube products and applications. In addition, Dr. Ma has led international effort in standardization of nanotechnology as he was appointed as Project Manager and Panel Expert for International Standard Organization (ISO/TC229) since 2006. Before joining Hyperion, he was a research scientist for IGEN Inc, a biotech company in US and later acquired by Roche. Dr. Ma received his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, and M.Sc and B.Sc in Chemistry from National University of Singapore and Nanjing University in China. Dr. Ma has excelled in innovations with more than 60 issued or pending US and worldwide patents and many invited speeches at international conferences.

Gang Xu, Ph.D.
Vice President of Operation

Dr. Xu possess over10 years li-ion battery R&D and mass production engineering experience. Before join in Cnano, in 2010 May, Dr.Xu served as Powergenix company VP and Asia Managing Director, which was worldwide largest Ni-Zn battery company, in charge of whole Asia business management, including setup team, new product development, manufacture, quality control and OEM supplier management. Before joined Powergenix company, Dr.Xu worked in Tianjin Lishen battery company over 10 years, mainly take charge of R&D, Engineering, marketing development and so on. In the that 10 years, Dr. Xu hold a post PM, R&D director, assistant of president, VP and Principal of Lishen Research and Development institute. In 2000, Dr. Xu Gang joined Tianjin Lishen Battery Com.Ltd., leading polymer Li-ion battery development team, after two years his team successfully developed and mass production winding-type gel polymer li-ion battery, which is the first mass production project in China, which is mass using in Apple, Motorola electronic product. In 2003, Dr Xu was promoted technology VP post, take charge of Lishen’s R&D, Engineering, technology , marketing development and top tier customer project management, his team successfully penetrated into Samsung SEC, Apple, TTi etc., also he was in charge of over ten national government funding projects, which was great support for Lishen company technology development. After graduated from Institute of Metal Corrosion and Protection (currently merged by Institute of Metal Research), China Academy of Science, he worked as postdoctoral fellow in department of Chemistry, Technion-Israel Institute of technology for one year. .

Eva Yan
Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Eva Yan has more than 14 years industrial experience in Lithium-ion Battery technology and operation management experience. Prior joining Cnano, Eva was Managing Director Asia of Leyden Energy Inc. which is an US advanced LIB provider. Eva was in charge of Leyden’s Asian team set up and Asian operation. Eva was also Plant Manager of A123 systems, one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-power Lithium ion batteries for automobile, power grid and power tool applications and also the biggest Lithium ion batteries supplier in US. Eva helped to build and manage A123’s18650 manufacture line. Also she helped to set up and manage A123’s pack plant. Prior to A123 Systems, she was co-Founder of Cham, one of the advanced cylindrical Lithium ion battery providers in China today. Eva received her master degree from South China University of Technology. She has more than 9 invent patents in Lithium-ion battery and also ever won Awards of Science and Technology from Guangdong Province.
